Welcome to W. O. Fire Safety Training. My name is William Ockleshaw, although everyone calls me Will.
I am a current member of both the Fire Protection Assocation and I am a Technical Member of the Institute of Fire Safety Managers.
I'm a freelance Health & Safety Trainer that specialises in providing high quality, tailored fire safety and health & safety training services, with first aid courses being added soon.
My tailored training courses are designed to meet the specific needs of each client, ensuring a safe and compliant work environment. I put the Client, the staff, and the public at the centre of the training I deliver.
In 2022/23 there were 321 fire related deaths in the UK, although this was a decline on the previous year where 335 people lost their lives, this number is still far too high.
In terms of Health & Safety, there were 138 fatalities reported in 2023/24. Many of these deaths were avoidable by simple means, starting with quality safety training.
This is where my tailored training courses come in. Having been invloved in fire safety for nearly 2 decades in roles ranging from Fire Marshal, to Fire Warden, to Fire Safety Manager and Fire Safety and First Aid Lead, alongside my logistics management role on a commercial office development, where I developed a lot of my own material and methods of teaching.
I then reprised these roles on my next project, again alongside my site logistics management role on a mixed use development comprising student accomodation above a small retail store and vehicle parking.
I continued with these roles until five months after an accident that has unfortunately left me dasabled. I now use my knowledge, and my experience in multiple sectors and industries to train the staff of my Clients and develop their knowledge, skills, understanding, and build their confidence using a variety of methods.
W. O. Fire Safety Training empowers staff and establishes understanding through knowledge, helping them stay safe through six core values:

These values are inbuilt, and evident in all of my tailored and Client-centred training courses,all of which exceed the required levels of training.
I provide my Clients with training that is tailored to their industry and their individual organisation, providing them with complete peace of mind, thus empowering the staff, which in turn makes a difference to the business. I don't teach generic courses.
I offer training in several subjects other than fire safety, meaning I can provide a one stop shop for fire safety and and health & safety training, from new employees to managers.
I offer three certification options:
1. Regulated Qualification Framework (RQF)
These qualifications are made of units regulated by OFQUAL and are widely accepted by most organisations, but tend to be used by organisations regulated by organisation such as Ofsted.
2. Vocational Training Qualification (VTQ)
These qualifications suit all businesses, and are widely accepted by trade bodies.
3. Unregulated or 'In-house' training
This means that the training provided, although of the same high quality, and using the same presentations, but are not regulated by any training regulator such as OFQUAL. These training courses suit businesses as the training is cheaper due to lower, or no certification costs, but without comprising on quality. for example I could deliver an unregulated Workplace Health & Safety for Managers using the same training materials as the Level 3 Health & Safety in the Workplaces at a discounted price due to the costs involved in certifying the Candidates. The cost savings are passed on to the Client, without comprising the quality.

Tailored Training Courses
My training is customised to fit the unique requirements of your organisation, ensuring comprehensive knowledge transfer, as well as practical, hands on, and engaging content.
My initial meeting with a new Client inclides finding what they want to achieve by training staff members. We also discuss any relevant experience that those employees have, and how I can help to develop their abilities.
Experienced Instructor
I'm an experienced Fire Safety Instructor, as well as being able to deliver additional Health & Safety courses, with first aid courses to be delivered at a later date. I have extensive practical experience in fire safety, health & safety, and first aid course delivery.
Compliance Assurance
through tailored training, which includes relevant legislation, industry and sector ACOPS and guidance, I keep your organisation compliant with the latest safety regulations and standards through your staff, providing peace of mind to you and your team.
I also offer ongoing support and advice to my Clients, as I believe working in partnership with my Clients and giving them confidence in what I'm teaching,
